Looking Forward to More Spanish
I really enjoyed my 4 weeks of class online with Carlos. He is a very knowledgeable instructor and we spoke just the right amount of English to make sure I understood the lessons. I have a trip planned to Ecuador to continue my lessons in person. I have full confidence in Carlos's ability to teach Spanish and to guide us on our Ecuadorian adventures.

Great experience
My son and I spent a week learning Spanish with Carlos in Otavalo this summer. Carlos was a really fun and engaging teacher and we both learned so much. Beyond the classroom, Carlos went out of his way to make our stay in Ecuador amazing. He extended our learning beyond the classroom and showed us all Otavalo and the surrounding areas had to offer by taking us on afternoon excursions every day. Carlos was always patient, knowledgeable and fun to be with.

An excellent spanish teacher and a wonderful town
We have met Carlos a first time in 2019. We love his well founded knowledge about the culture, history and politics of Ecuador and his high abilities as a teacher and his charming nature. The Spanish class was very effective and we had a lot of fun together. Otavalo is a nice place to recover and discover the culture of the diverse people living in this lovely town. The area around is also interesting. Our favourite destination was La Mojanda in the neighbouring mountains. We are looking forward to our next journey in Otavalo.

A brilliant experience
Carlos was an amazing teacher and guide for the 4 weeks I was learning with him. He was a really patient and supportive teacher, but pushed me in a way that I found very helpful and definitely helped my Spanish improve at a really fast rate. He was also such a good person to travel with in Ecuador, he had so much local knowledge and the Spanish learning and conversation extended way beyond the core lesson hours — there were so many opportunities to practise with him and with others, in lots of different situations. I went from having no experience of Spanish to being able to comfortably hold a conversation. This is definitely how I would recommend learning a language, and I found Carlos to be a fantastic teacher to do this with!

I learnt Spanish and made a great friend
Carlos is a fantastic teacher! I studied in Otavalo for 2 weeks and my Spanish improved heaps, it was so easy to chat and lessons were always good fun with lots of laughs. I feel like we became fast friends. Carlos will go out of his way to work with you and help you out, my time in Otavalo was probably my favorite part of my solo travels.

More Than Grammar: A Complete Spanish Learning Experience
I spent seven months in Ecuador volunteering and, during this time, Carlos was my Spanish professor. My experience with him was very positive. Not only is he a knowledgeable and well-prepared teacher, but he is also empathetic, easy to talk to, and genuinely passionate about teaching. His classes aren’t just about grammar: they are interactive, engaging, and customized to your specific needs and goals. Carlos balances written exercises with time to practice speaking, creating a dynamic and enjoyable learning environment. One of the things I appreciated most was how he brings Ecuadorian culture into the lessons. Thanks to his background in tourism, he offers valuable insights on local traditions and recommendations about places to visit, making every class a full 360-degree experience where language, culture, and personal exchange come together. My original goal was just to improve my basic Spanish, but I enjoyed the classes so much that I decided to continue to a more advanced level. Now I feel confident enough to take a language certification exam, and Carlos has supported me by providing all the materials and guidance I needed to prepare.I highly recommend this school and especially Carlos as a teacher. His knowledge, open-minded approach and ability to listen make him a thoughtful and reliable educator who sincerely cares about his students and creates an effective atmosphere for learning.

Un profesor excelente y una gran persona
Cuando llegué a Ecuador, una persona me sugirió contactar a Carlos porque había tenido una experiencia positiva con él, y yo justamente estaba buscando a alguien para aprender español. Desde junio hasta agosto tuve clases con Carlos. Las clases duran dos horas, pero con él la experiencia no es solo aprender gramática, sino también conversar y hablar de la vida cotidiana. El tiempo pasa rápido porque sabe combinar y equilibrar el aprendizaje formal con el informal. Te ofrece material y nunca había experimentado un enfoque tan claro, preciso, eficaz e intuitivo con la gramática. Lamentablemente, por motivos personales no pude continuar con las clases, pero quiero agradecerle por el apoyo y la disponibilidad que me brindó, más allá de su rol profesional, también como amigo y como un ser humano noble.

Best mix between structure and personalising the learning process based on your needs
I worked with Carlos during my 2 month volunteering experience in Otavalo. I couldn't have asked for a better teacher - Carlos is very patient, offers structure, but also personalises the learning process based on the learner's needs. He also offers a lot of context about the Ecuadorian culture, beyond the Spanish grammar.I fully recommend him !

Spanish lessons
The Spanish lessons with Carlos were super nice and I feel like I've learned a lot. He was very open to our ideas and wanted we wanted to do, while also making sure it was for our level and we progressed.
